FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

InsurCard electronic claims payment solutions benefit every party involved in a Property/Casualty claim. From Workers Compensation to Homeowners, Automobile, Liability, and Catastrophe claims, InsurCard has a program customized to meet your needs.

“What is InsurCard?”

InsurCard is the leading issuer of debit cards for the payments of property claims and casualty claims. Workers Compensation claim payments are made with state-approved prepaid programs for injured worker benefits. Insurcard payment programs use state-of-the-art Mastercard approved processing centers which are accessed by issuers by PCI compliant transmissions.

“How is an injured worker paid using a debit card?”

An injured worked is mailed a debit card welcome packet with a preloaded debit card to be used for their  workers compensation payments. All future claims are transferred electronically to the same debit card with no delays. The adjuster process is the same by choosing the debit card option.

“Who gave InsurCard their state approvals?”

InsurCard workers compensation and provider payments have been approved by most states by a letter or a published workers compensation statute from the state legislature. The workers compensation oversight committee issues the approvals and are different from state to state.

“How does an InsurCard payment save the insurer money?”

InsurCard takes the provider file at no cost for virtual payments, checks and ACH’s. For Indemnity payments money is saved with one debit card mailing, instead of mailing many indemnity check payments. Insurers also save money in a reduction of “Where’s my check?” phone calls to adjusters and voids, stops and other accounting functions.

“What is a Virtual Card?”

The InsurCard Virtual Card is a provider payment using a prepaid debit card that isn’t produced as a plastic card, delivered via fax, email or downloaded onto a phone. All Virtual Cards have a card number and expiration date, just like a normal prepaid debit card for workers compensation or property provider payments. For security, those numbers may be hidden with a scannable barcode.

“Why is the InsurCard Virtual Card accepted at more doctors’ offices than other electronic cards?”

InsurCard’s Virtual Card for workers compensation provider payments addresses key concerns expressed by doctors. There is no sign up required, no new technology to learn and EOB statements arrive with the virtual payment. The Insurcard Virtual Card allows the doctor or provider to be paid immediately when the payment arrives.

“What is the acceptance rate of indemnity card payments?”

InsurCard’s indemnity card payments have an acceptance rate as high as 90 percent and have been climbing. Debit cards are now the most common form of payment in the United States, surpassing cash, credit cards, and checks.
